Dream Home Resource Center
2013
Armand Hammer Museum
Los Angeles, California

Dream Home Resource Center is a site-specific installation in the Hammer Museum’s Project Space Gallery. It includes rainbow resin pour painting on doors from a McMansionstyle house in Orange County and a handmade charm necklace for locking plaster-cast elbow door handles. The gold and plaster office furniture kiosk was intended for free meetings with tenants, homeless advocates, realtors, mortgage brokers, and artists, to share housing information and support. The walls of the gallery were painted with a supergraphic forming a timeline of comprised of narratives, images, news, and historical markers relating to housing in Los Angeles.

Through these elements, Koumoundouros hopes to provoke viewers and participants to consider the currency, both emotional and monetary, invested in the places in which we live.
